The Teleporter Problem Was Never About Teleporters
TL;DR — I usually write about tools and tests. This one starts with a teleporter and ends somewhere much stranger. Scan a person, transmit the information, rebuild them atom-for-atom somewhere else — and ask the question the engineering never answers: how do we know the one who steps out is actually alive, and actually them? Chasing it honestly, teleportation turns out to be the least interesting part — and underneath the copy sits a stack of older problems: why there are separate perspectives at all, why there is any experience at all, and why, even if reality is completely neutral, no perspective inside it can ever be.
